Functional Fixedness is a cognitive bias that involves a tendency to see objects as only working in a particular way. It can prevent people from seeing the full range of uses that an object may have. It can also impair our ability to think of novel solutions to problems. We may see a desk as a desk, but what else could the desk be? What other functions could it do?
This video will show how we use problem solving in creativity to overcome functional fixedness.
